The title of Person of the Year 2018 was awarded by Postimees to the authors of the Memorial to the Victims of Communism „The Journey“ Kalle Vellevoog, Jaan Tiidemann, Tiiu Truus, Kirke Kangro and Lidia Zarudnaja. The memorial, built at Maarjamäe in Tallinn for the centenary of Estonia, was opened to the public on a celebratory summer week of the country’s jubilee year.

Päevaleht announced the ranking of the most influential people in Estonia of
year 2018. The ranking was assembled by journalists of Eesti Päevaleht, Eesti
Ekspress and Maaleht, who ratted the candidate’s influence on our daily lives
this year.
The
authors of the Maarjamäe Memorial to the Victims of Communism were declared
most influential in the cultural field.
New residential buildings in Veerenni district, Tallinn
The Architectural Office JVR won the pre-qualified competition for new residential buildings located at Veerenni quarter in Tallinn. Altogether, six new buildings of 4 to 6 floors will be built according to the winning competition entry, and will be realised in 2019-2020. Authors: Velle Kadalipp, Kersti Nigols, Paulina Pähn.
